Overview

The HUAC-30kV/35kV is a variable frequency series resonant test system for AC withstand voltage tests on power cables, transformers, generators, gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) and other high-voltage equipment in substations, power plants and electrical laboratories. It resonates between 30 and 300 Hz, so it meets insulation test requirements under a wide range of site conditions.

The system uses multi-stage high-voltage reactors that can be connected in series or in parallel, and a capacitive voltage divider that serves both for voltage measurement and as compensation capacitance. Together they reach resonance in the 30–300 Hz range to complete AC withstand tests on many kinds of electrical equipment.

Frequently asked questions

What can the HUAC series resonant test system test?

AC withstand voltage tests on power cables, transformers, generators, GIS and other high-voltage equipment in substations, power plants and electrical laboratories.

How long a cable can it test?

It depends on the configuration, cable cross-section and voltage. The configuration guide above lists typical lengths, for example 3 km of 35 kV, 25 mm² cable with the 216 kVA / 108 kV configuration. Send us your cable data and we will confirm it.

Why are the reactors multi-stage?

Reactor sections can be connected in series for higher test voltage or in parallel for higher test current, so the resonant frequency stays in the 30–300 Hz range for different test objects.

What does the voltage divider do?

It measures the test voltage and, for low-capacitance test objects, adds compensation capacitance to bring the resonant frequency back into range.

Which protection functions are included?

Overcurrent protection and flashover discharge protection, which shut down the output if the test object breaks down.
