The HUAC-22/22-216kVA/108kV is a variable frequency series resonant test system for AC withstand voltage and insulation tests on high-voltage power cables, transformers, gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) and generators in power plants, substations and electrical laboratories. Its 216 kVA rating suits high-capacitance test objects that need more power than a compact system can deliver.
A variable frequency power source drives an excitation transformer and a set of modular high-voltage reactors in series with the test object. The control unit sweeps the frequency between 30 and 300 Hz and calculates the resonant point automatically, so the power source only supplies the circuit losses.
The reactor sections can be connected in series for the full 108 kV, or in parallel for more test current at a lower voltage, matching the system to the voltage and capacitance of each test object. The capacitive voltage divider measures the test voltage and also acts as compensation capacitance for low-capacitance objects.

At the full 108 kV with all reactor sections in series, the rated current is 2 A (216 kVA ÷ 108 kV). Connecting reactor sections in parallel gives more current at a lower test voltage for high-capacitance objects such as long cables; we confirm the configuration for your test objects in the quotation.
AC withstand and insulation tests on high-voltage power cables, power transformers, GIS and generators, in power plants, substations and electrical laboratories.
Yes. Cable standards such as IEC 60502-2 and IEC 60840 allow after-installation AC voltage tests at 20 to 300 Hz. The system finds the resonant frequency for each test object automatically within its 30–300 Hz range.
The required capacity depends on the cable capacitance, the test voltage and the test frequency. Send us the cable type, cross-section, length and the required test voltage, and our engineers will calculate it. See our sizing guide on the series resonant test system page.
The control unit trips on overcurrent and on flashover of the test object, so a breakdown is detected and the output is switched off immediately.
