AC withstand testing of 10 kV cables, switchgear and transformers, tuning to resonance anywhere from 30 to 300 Hz.
The HUAC-22/22-10kV is a variable frequency series resonant test system for AC withstand testing of 10 kV power cables, switchgear, transformers and other electrical equipment in distribution networks, substations and electrical laboratories.
A variable frequency power source drives an excitation transformer and a set of reactors connected in series with the test object. The control unit sweeps the frequency between 30 and 300 Hz until the reactor inductance resonates with the capacitance of the test object. At resonance the source only has to supply the circuit losses, so a compact, portable power source can test highly capacitive loads such as cable.
The reactors can be connected in series or in parallel to match the test voltage and the capacitance of the object. The capacitive voltage divider measures the test voltage and also acts as compensation capacitance for objects with very low capacitance.

Cables and other capacitive objects draw a large charging current at test voltage. In a resonant circuit the reactor supplies that reactive power, so the power source only covers the losses. The result is a much smaller, lighter test system for the same test object.
Yes. Cable standards such as IEC 60502-2 allow after-installation AC voltage tests at frequencies from 20 to 300 Hz. The system automatically finds the resonant frequency for each test object within its 30–300 Hz range.
It depends on the cable's capacitance per kilometre, the test voltage and the reactor configuration. Send us the cable length, cross-section and the required test voltage and duration, and we will confirm the configuration.
Yes. Low-capacitance objects such as switchgear may need extra capacitance to reach resonance within the frequency range; the voltage divider provides this compensation.
The control unit trips on overcurrent and on flashover of the test object, so a breakdown is detected and the output is switched off immediately.
