Field tester for cable on the reel: conductor DC resistance, length (30 m–50 km), resistance per metre and effective cross-section, Bluetooth, battery.
The HUAC-212C checks the quality of power cable on site, without laboratory conditions. It measures the conductor DC resistance, the cable length and the ambient temperature, and from these calculates the conductor resistance per unit length and the effective conductor cross-section. Cable manufacturers, electrical contractors, utilities and quality control laboratories use it to verify that delivered cable meets its specification and to catch undersized or substandard cable before it is installed.
Length is measured by the travelling wave method: the instrument injects a low-voltage pulse and times its reflection from the far end of the cable, covering lengths from 30 m to 50 km. A precision DC resistance module measures the conductor resistance from 0 to 100 Ω with an accuracy of ±0.2 % + 1 μΩ, and a built-in temperature and humidity sensor corrects the resistance for ambient conditions.
Tests can be run locally or remotely over the built-in Bluetooth link, with an effective range of up to 30 m in open surroundings. A 12.6 V, 15,000 mAh lithium battery gives more than 8 hours of continuous measurement and more than 20 hours of standby, and the instrument can also run from AC 220 V. Battery charge and discharge management, over-voltage, over-current and internal over-temperature protection keep the instrument safe in the field.
The conductor resistance per unit length is what cable standards specify for each nominal cross-section, for example GB/T 3956, the Chinese equivalent of IEC 60228. A cable with too little copper or aluminium has a higher resistance per metre than its nominal size allows. By measuring the total resistance and the length of the cable on the reel, the HUAC-212C calculates the resistance per metre and the effective cross-section on the spot, so a short-weight conductor is found without cutting a sample for the laboratory.

It measures the conductor DC resistance, the cable length and the ambient temperature and humidity, and calculates the resistance per unit length and the effective conductor cross-section.
Cable standards specify the maximum conductor resistance per unit length for each nominal cross-section. The instrument divides the measured resistance by the measured length; a cable with less conductor material than its nominal size shows a higher resistance per metre and a smaller effective cross-section.
By the travelling wave method: a low-voltage pulse is injected into the cable and the time until its reflection from the far end returns gives the length. The range is 30 m to 50 km.
Yes. Besides local operation, it can be controlled wirelessly over its built-in Bluetooth link, with an effective range of up to 30 m in open surroundings.
