Overview

Once a transformer is built, the inductance and capacitance of each winding are fixed, and so is its frequency response. Short circuits, transport shocks and fault currents can displace or deform the windings, which changes the frequency response. The HUAC-RZ-3000 measures this response to detect winding distortion, bulging, displacement, tilting, inter-turn short circuits and inter-phase contact.

The instrument has an integrated industrial PC, so no separate laptop is needed on site. It supports both linear and segmented frequency sweeps, and compares the three phases with each other and with historical data to grade the winding condition automatically. Results are saved as Word reports. It follows DL/T 911, the Chinese power-industry standard for frequency response analysis of transformer winding deformation.

Frequently asked questions

What is SFRA?

Sweep frequency response analysis injects a low-voltage signal over a wide frequency range into one end of a winding and measures the response at the other end. Changes in the response reveal mechanical changes in the winding.

Do I need earlier measurements?

A baseline makes diagnosis easier, but without one the instrument compares the three phases with each other to assess the windings.

Does the transformer have to be opened?

No. Only the connections to the bushings are removed; the tank stays closed.
