Overview

The HUAC-HL-100A measures the loop resistance of high-voltage switchgear at the DC test current of 100 A recommended by the power-industry standards, with a 50 A range also available. It is designed to DL/T 845.4 and combines high-frequency switching power supply technology with digital measurement.

The continuous output current breaks through oxide films on the contacts for accurate, repeatable readings. Results are shown on a large LCD, stored, printed and sent to a PC over RS232. At 6 kg it is easy to carry around the substation, and it meets the needs of both utilities and switchgear manufacturers.

Frequently asked questions

What is loop resistance?

The total resistance of the current path through a closed switch, including its contacts. A rising value points to worn, burnt or loose contacts.

Which current should I use?

100 A is the value recommended by the power-industry standards for circuit breakers and disconnectors. Use 50 A for smaller switches. For 200 A tests, see the HUAC-HL-200B.

Can results be sent to a computer?

Yes, over the RS232 interface, and they can also be printed on the built-in printer.
