Voltage-method CT and VT ratio and polarity tester: CTs up to 25000/5 A, VTs 2.2–220 kV, ±0.2 % of reading, no heavy-current source needed.
The HUAC-4500 measures the turns ratio and polarity of current transformers (CTs) and voltage transformers (VTs) on site. It solves a common field problem: checking the ratio of a large CT by the current method needs a primary current of thousands or tens of thousands of amperes, which means a heavy current generator that is often impractical to bring to a substation.
Instead, the HUAC-4500 uses the voltage method. A single-chip processor generates a clean, pure test voltage internally, so readings are stable and unaffected by grid interference, and an internal constant voltage source keeps the accuracy at ±0.2 % of reading. It covers CTs from 5/5 A to 25000/5 A and from 5/1 A to 5000/1 A, and VTs from 2.2 kV/√3 to 220 kV/√3 with 100 V/√3 secondaries.
The backlit LCD shows the ratio directly, for example 20 for a 100/5 A CT, together with the polarity: subtractive (correct) or additive (wrong). A reset button starts the next measurement at once. The lightweight instrument is charged from AC 220 V and is easy to carry around substations, power plants and industrial sites for routine maintenance, commissioning and checks after winding replacement. The instrument meets the requirements of the Chinese verification regulation JJG 313-2010 for measuring current transformers.

Testing a large CT by the current method needs thousands or tens of thousands of amperes on the primary side. The voltage method measures the same ratio with a small test voltage, so no heavy current generator is needed on site.
CTs from 5/5 A to 25000/5 A and from 5/1 A to 5000/1 A, and VTs from 2.2 kV/√3 to 220 kV/√3 with 100 V/√3 secondaries.
The display shows whether the polarity is subtractive, which is correct, or additive, which indicates a wrong connection or marking.
