Overview

The HUAC-6618 calibrates SF6 gas density relays and converts the pressure at any ambient temperature to the standard value at 20 °C. It is used in the production, maintenance and monitoring of SF6 density relays on circuit breakers and GIS.

Two channels test two density relays at once. The instrument measures the alarm, lockout and over-pressure operating and reset pressures of each relay automatically and converts them to 20 °C. It also checks pressure gauges and density gauges. A set of adapters lets most density relays be tested without removing them.

Frequently asked questions

Why convert to 20 °C?

SF6 pressure changes with temperature, while density relays are set at 20 °C. Converting the measured operating pressures to 20 °C shows whether the relay operates at the correct density.

Do relays need to be removed?

In most cases no. The supplied adapters connect to the relay in place.

Can it check pressure gauges too?

Yes, pressure gauges and density gauges at any ambient temperature.
